"On Your Journey..."

I know Christmas 2013 has come and gone, but as a lot of you already know, I just recently returned to Italy, after spending the month of December in Paris. When I arrived there was such a special Christmas surprise planned for me! It was so creative and well thought out and it came to me at a moment when I truly least expected it. I decided to share it with all of you, taking you through the experience with me, step by step!

It went like this...

I arrived at the front door and rang the doorbell. I was let into the building. I walked down the long dark hallway to the entrance of the apartment and was then asked to sit on the sofa until I was called upstairs. When that moment came I walked up the stairs and opened the door. The lights were off, but the room was shining bright thanks to 50 candles placed carefully on the floor in the shape of a perfect heart!

In front of the the heart there was a chair where I was asked to sit. I was then given headphones, which I put on and the song Unconditionally by Katy Perry started playing. Next, E. stood in front of me (with the heart between us) and pulled out a stack of colorful signs he had hand written. Next to him was a large bag with many wrapped presents inside. A kind of slideshow began...

(Yellow signs):

(sign 1.) "On your journey..."

(sign 2.) "You will need a good survival kit..."

(sign 3.) "What I really know about you is that you never have enough of these...so you won't have excuses anymore!!!"

At this point E. took a wrapped present out of the bag next to him and handed it to me. I opened it and found these cute blue socks! (It's an inside joke between the two of us because I can never find my socks, so I "borrow" his ;)

The slideshow continued:

(sign 4.) "When you're hungry don't worry, these will cheer you up in a minute."

I was handed another wrapped box from the mysterious bag. I tore it open and found some of my favorite cookies! White chocolate and cranberries......yum! New Yorkers of course... ;)

(sign 5.) "I was told once by a Brahmin that prayers are indispensable for soul growth...you'll do it in a more fashionable way..."

Out came another present from the bag...this time I found a beautiful Indian pashmina inside! As E. and anyone else who knows me is well aware of, I am passionate about scarves!! I just love them and wear one (or two!) almost every day! This beautiful one is unlike anything else that I have!...and it comes from India, where I am dying to go! Just look at the vibrant colors...

(sign 6.) "For the sweetest girl, the sweetest thing...P.S. Just stay away from bears when you decide to use it!!!"

This time I was handed a bigger box with a large bow. I had a feeling I knew what this gift would be and I was right! Marc Jacobs' newest fragrance, Honey! I collect the Marc Jacobs perfumes because I always LOVE the scents and the quirky designs of the bottles!...I have been so excited about the release of this new scent since I found out about it last Spring. The scent is fresh and happy and how cute is the bottle?!!

The next sign was pink and didn't have any writing on it, but just a simple musical note drawn on it.

I had no idea what to expect this time and when I opened the  next box I was so excited!!! In my hands I was holding the headphones that I had mentioned to E. ages ago that I loved: "The Frames" of the Philips Citiscape collection with tortoise shell detail and leather trim!!!...they are the most beautiful headphones...and they fold up so that you can travel with them easily!

E. explained that these were very difficult to find. He had even searched Milano for them and was told that they didn't even exist! He knew better though and, after he couldn't find them in stores, he searched everywhere on-line and found them for me! I adore them.

They even come with this little travel bag :)

The next sign was green...

(sign 8.) "Oh, just one last thing ;) ..."

Then red signs...

(sign 9.) "You're the most special girl in the galaxy!!!

AND...

sign 10.

I can't say thank you enough...not just because of the wonderful presents, but because of the amount of thought and love that went into each and every step of this surprise. It was perfect and I am touched.

"On Your Journey..."

So che il Natale 2013 ormai è passato, ma come tanti di voi saprete già, sono rientrata da poco in Italia dopo aver passato il mese di dicembre a Parigi. Al mio ritorno ho ricevuto una sorpresa così speciale e creativa ed è arrivata anche nel momento in cui meno me lo aspettavo. Così, passo dopo passo, spiegherò l'esperienza che ho vissuto, in modo di condividerla con tutti voi!

È andata così…

Era sera quando sono arrivata al portone e ho suonato il campanello. Mi ha aperto e ho percorso il lungo e stretto corridoio al buio fino ad arrivare all’ingresso dell’appartamento. E. mi ha chiesto di aspettare giù sul divano in attesa di poter salire nella camera da letto. Quando è arrivato il momento ho fatto i gradini che portavano nella stanza e ho aperto la porta. Le luci erano spente, ma la stanza era comunque ben illuminata da 50 piccole candele che, posizionate per terra con molto cura, formavano un cuore perfetto!

Posizionata davanti al cuore c’era una sedia, su cui mi sono seduta. E. mi ha dato delle cuffie che ho messo nelle orecchie ed è subito partita la canzone Unconditionally di Katy Perry. E. si è messo davanti a me (con il cuore tra di noi) e ha tirato fuori diversi cartoncini colorati su cui aveva scritto a mano. Accanto a lui c'era una busta con dei pacchetti incartati. Quindi, ha avuto inizio una specie di slideshow...

(Cartoncini gialli)...

(cartoncino n.1) "Nel tuo viaggio..."

(cartoncino n. 2) "Avrai probabilmente bisogno di un buon kit di sopravvivenza..."

(cartoncino n.3) "Quello che realmente so di te è che non hai mai abbastanza di questi...ora non avrai più scuse!!!"

A questo punto E. ha preso dalla busta un pacchetto e me l'ha passato. Scartandolo ho trovato questi calzini blu! (si scherza sempre perché non riesco mai a trovare i miei calzini, così prendo in "prestito" i suoi ;)

Lo slideshow ha continuato:

(cartoncino n. 4) "Nel momento in cui avrai fame, non avrai di che preoccuparti, questi ti tireranno su in un minuto."

Mi ha dato un altro pacchetto dalla busta misteriosa. L'ho scartato subito, trovando dentro i miei biscotti preferiti! Cioccolato bianco e mirtilli rossi......mmmm! New Yorkers ovviamente... ;)

(cartoncino n. 5) "Mi è stato detto da un bramino che le preghiere sono indispensabili per la crescita dell'anima...beh tu lo farai in un modo più fashionable..."

Fuori un altro pacchetto dalla busta...stavolta ho trovato una bellissima pashmina indiana! Come E. e tutti gli altri che mi conoscono sanno, ho una passione per le sciarpe ! Le adore e le indosso quasi tutti i giorni! Questa è diversa da tutte le altre che ho!...e viene dall'India, dove non vedo l'ora di andarci! Guarda che colori vivaci...

(cartoncino n. 6) "Per la ragazza più dolce, il regalo più dolce...P.S. Stai lontana dagli orsi quando deciderai di usarlo!!!"

Stavolta mi ha dato una scatola più grande con un bel fiocco. Avevo un'idea di quello che poteva essere...e avevo ragione: l'ultima fragranza di Marc Jacobs, Honey! Colleziono i profumi di Marc Jacobs perché mi piacciono sempre le fragranze e i design simpatici e particolari delle boccette!...Ho saputo di Honey la primavera scorsa ed è da allora che aspettavo di poterlo aggiungere alla mia collezione! Il profumo è fresco e regala un senso di felicità...e quanto sarà carina la boccetta??!

Il cartoncino successivo era rosa e senza scritte. Stavolta c'era  disegnata soltanto una semplice nota musicale.

Non avevo idea di cosa aspettarmi e quando ho aperto la scatola successiva mi sono emozionata parecchio! Tra le mie mani avevo le cuffie di cui avevo parlato a E. tempo fa e di cui mi ero innamorata: si tratta di "The Frames" della collezione  Citiscape della Phillips con il dettaglio tartarugata e le finiture in pelle!!!...sono bellissime...and si piegano in modo di poterci viaggiare facilmente!

E. mi ha spiegato che queste sono state difficili da trovare.  Le aveva cercato anche a Milano, dove gli era stato detto che non esistevano! Lui è stato insistente nelle ricerche però e, non avendole trovate nei negozi, le ha trovate finalmente on-line! Le adoro.

Hanno pure questa borsetta da viaggio :)

Il cartoncino successivo era verde...

(cartoncino n. 8) "Oh, un'ultima cosa ;) ..."

Poi cartoncini rossi...

(cartoncino n. 9) "Sei la ragazza più speciale della galassia!!!

e...

(cartoncino n. 10) 

"RICORDATI SEMPRE CHE TI AMO...E."

Non potrei mai ringraziare abbastanza...non solo per i regali bellissimi, ma per la quantità di impegno e amore che c'è in questa sorpresa. Era perfetta, dall'inizio alla fine, e mi ha commosso parecchio.

Grazie Egidio...sai sempre come farmi sentire speciale.
